Once again, we have an opening here at the library for a Youth Services Assistant. There is a full job description and position posting available on our website under “Employment”. This person would work roughly 10 regular hours per week and one Saturday a month. They are also responsible for planning and producing Story Time and other programming for children, as well as promoting our early literacy offerings, so being good with children is a must. We will begin reviewing applications on May 10th, 2021 and continue until the position is filled.
We are passing along important information about a governmental assistance program, Emergency Broadband Benefit Program. The Emergency Broadband Benefit Program is a Federal Communication Commission (FCC) program that provides a temporary discount on monthly broadband (internet) bills for qualifying low-income households. If your household is eligible, you can receive…
- Up to a $50/month discount on your broadband service and associated equipment rentals
- Up to a $75/month discount if your household is on qualifying Tribal lands
- A one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer (with a copayment of more than $10 but less than $50).
There can only be one monthly service discount and one device discount allowed per household. The FCC has announced that consumers can begin applying for and enrolling in the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program on May 12, 2021. The program will end when the fund runs out of money, or six months after the Department of Health and Human Services declares an end to the COVID-19 health emergency, whichever is sooner.
To see if you qualify for this benefit, please visit www.getemergencybroadband.org. The application process is outlined on this website as well. We will be posting the link to the website on our Facebook page and on our website.
The library is going to be closed on Friday, May 28th, in order for our carpets to be cleaned. This is the start of Memorial Day weekend so we will also be closed that Saturday, May 29th and Monday, May 31st. Please plan your visits accordingly. Another reminder that our last Saturday open until September will be May 22nd!
Summer Reading is inching closer, we can’t wait to share our plans with you!
