Summer reading is officially over, prizes have been awarded and decorations are starting to be taken down. This year we had 55 kids, 10 teens, and 37 adults register for the summer reading program. While those numbers may be lower than normal, I am proud of them seeing as our staff overhauled the summer reading program in less than a month to be done mostly at home. We handed out over 350 activities to all ages over the eight weeks of summer reading and got dozens of scavenger hunt sheets turned in. Thank you so much to everyone who participated! We are glad you could join us and hope you had fun. It is also our hope that you will join us again next year, the 2021 theme is Tales and Tails.
The Library will be participating in the City of Mondovi’s Grand Opening Celebration for Mirror Lake Parks. We plan, weather permitting, to do an outdoor craft for all ages. We chose this craft because the supplies can be sanitized between users. If you are going to the celebration, be sure to stop by the Library booth and check it out. We will also have magnets with our new library hours on them and some other brochures and pamphlets for you to grab. If you are interested in potentially volunteering to help with our craft, please let Katelyn at the Library know. We are still in the planning stages, but extra hands are always appreciated.
We will start distributing more take-and-make activities for kids next week. We are still working on the schedule so be sure to ask at the circulation desk if there is a new activity when you come in. Our goal is to distribute biweekly activities.
PBS Wisconsin has recently donated summer activity booklets to our Library! They donated 75 booklets that have coloring pages, puzzles, mazes and more inside. We are giving them away at the circulation desk, so do not forget to ask for one next time you are in the Library. They will be at the circulation desk until gone.
As mentioned last week, we are excited to announce that the library is changing its regular hours, starting after Labor Day. The Library has been doing research to change or alter its existing regular hours for some time now and have been able to test out changes with the current temporary hours. Therefore, the Library Board has voted to change the regular operating hours of the Library. We will be open Monday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Tuesday, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Wednesday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.; and Saturday 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. We will be closed on Saturdays each year Memorial Day to Labor Day. We have refrigerator magnets with our new hours on them available upon request at the circulation desk. We hope these new hours will enable more opportunities to come visit the library!
The Library is currently open with modifications Monday–Thursday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., and Friday 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. If you have any questions, please contact the library.
