Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone! Hopefully you had something green with you and did not get pinched this year. Our Librarian, Sarah, made a wonderful green books display to help provide patrons with their splash of green this year. Check out our display and snag a book from it before we put up the next one.

The Library’s Capital Campaign Committee has moved the donation jars at local businesses to new places this month. They are now located at The Locker Room, Hansen’s IGA, Gumby’s Bar and Grill, The White Pig, Buzz’s Bar and Grill, Dregney’s Double D’z, and Porky’s Pub. Donations collected from these jars will be added to our building fund. The jars will remain at these locations until roughly the second week in April. The library sends out a very big Thank You! to all the participating businesses and to all those who donate. We appreciate every penny and wouldn’t be so far in the fundraising of the new library without our community’s help.

The library is still looking to fill a vacant trustee position on the Library Board. The Library Board meets a minimum of once per month on the first Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Trustees oversee the management and future of the Public Library. They help to establish policies and long-term goals; oversee the general operation of the library; oversee the budget process; promote and advocate for the library in the community; and evaluate the library director. They will also aide in the fundraising and management of the Library Building Project. Interested persons may send a letter or email to the Mayor at City Hall, 156 S. Franklin St. Questions may be directed to the Library at (715) 926-4403 or to City Hall at (715) 926-3866.

We have begun planning for Summer Reading and that includes seeking donations to help us put on programs and offer incentives. Some examples of donations can include monetary donations, we use those to purchase supplies for programming, books for prizes, and small trinkets for incentives. They can also be tangible items such as gift cards or other items that we can offer as raffle prizes for the adult readers. We will put out more information on Summer Reading as it becomes available.

The library is open Monday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Saturday 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The library is closed on Sunday.
